Tuesday. . .

This Tuesday we have our first print competition of the season, the judge for the evening is Joe Duffy, Joe has been to WCC on many occasions and we are pleased to welcome him back.
Also and I know that I don't have to let anyone know, it is also the entry date for the first round of the PDI competition. And that is all I'm saying about that - I hope that my past messages have struck a cord - we will see on Tuesday!
What is this PDI I hear you ask, last year we had DPI(Digitally Projected Image) well it appears the new norm and name for files projected is PDI(Projected Digital Image!)

PARRWORLD at the BALTIC. . .

Parrworld - opened on Friday night at the Baltic and is on until 17th January 2010. See links for more info. www.balticmill.com/whatsOn/present/index.php
This is the only showing of this exhibition in the UK and features images from his new book 'Luxury' and objects from his personal collection - which includes boring postcards - Saddham Hussein wrist watches and wallpaper!! and in this image we can see Martin ( in Brown hoodie) heading in to give a talk and sign copies of 'Luxury'.

whats new then...

First off, if you look further down to the post with the program you will then be able to see and download the very latest version!!

Next up we have our first print competition of the season with judge Joe Duffy LRPS, CPAGB,
also, as I think I covered in the last two posts the entry date for out first PDI competition of the season - I won't repeat myself except to say "come on everyone make an entry"

Now on Tuesday gone, after the Ansel Adams DVD we selected teams from numbers in a bag (all a bit FA cup'ish I thought) for our new bit of photo-fun the 'Five-a-side' competition see below for team listing and rules etc... the competition takes place over three weeks 16th & 23rd of February and the 2nd of March - check it out on the new program!!

Friday 9 October 2009

WCC welcomes Ansel Adams. . .

All right it's only a DVD - but all the same it should be a good night.

Moon And Half Dome (c) Ansel Adams

Ansel Easton Adams, February 20th 1902 - April 22nd 1984.

American photographer and environmentalist, best known for his black-and-white photographs of the American West and primarily Yosemite National Park.

For his images, he developed the zone system, a way to determine proper exposure and adjust the contrast of the final print. The resulting clarity and depth characterized his photographs. Although his large-format view cameras were difficult to use because of their size, weight, setup time, and film cost, their highresolution ensured sharpness in his images.

He founded the Group f/64 along with fellow photographers Edward Weston and Imogen Cunningham, which in turn created the Museum of Modern Art's department of photography. Adams' timeless and visually stunning photographs are reproduced on calendars, posters, and in books, making his photographs widely recognizable.

AM I TALKING TO YOU. . .

Our next meeting this coming Tuesday, we have coming along on November the 24th at Ryton Camera Club - the 2009 South Tyne - Projected Digital Image competition. So we need some images to select for our entry of six images. So bring along some images which you think will help us win this competition this year, we were robbed last year but won it the year before - so lets repeat that victory. Your images at this point DO NOT need to be resized so you just need to bring them along.

Last Tuesday we had the opportunity to see some work taken on our last two practical nights for the amount of people who took part on those nights, to be honest the show of work was a little disappointing - but, well done to new member Carl, he showed some very nice low key portraits.

Come on you long standing members let see what you have been doing, we all know every one has been out and about over the summer weeks, plus three practical nights at the club. so come on you guys try submitting for the South Tyne and don't forget that the entry date for the first round of this seasons Projected Digital Image competition is coming along fast - it's on October 20th -- so as challenge lets see if we can get an entry from EVERY member YES I'M talking to you!! - entries as you know are for UP TO five images, which means you can, if you wish, simply enter one or two images.

BE PART OF YOUR CAMERA CLUB AND ENTER.

new program 2009 / 2010

Here it is - the new program, not sure which version were up to any way here is the latest click on image to enlarge, for the upcoming season. We still need to find a judge for a couple PDI competitions - which is proving a little difficult after leaving it so late as the last program secretary failed miserably to do his job!
But we will work something out I'm sure.................

Hi all,
The new season got away with a slightly shaky start as we (I !) forgot to inform every one that the new season was under way - but here is a simple aide memoir we always start a new season on the first Tuesday in September.

( those of you who live outside of Winlaton please simply make your own way directly to the venue and we will catch you up at the venue!!

NOW - if the weather is inclement - Raining!! we will not be heading out, and a Portrait night is planed. And if this is the case we will then be heading of out to do a little night photography next Tuesday.
