What's been happing!

This week we saw a fine selection of AV showreels, the Idea was to illustrate a song, for me the sequence that best was Davey's "Tip Toe through the Tulips which was well done and very humorous, also well worth a mention was Brigett's which had some wonderful Scottish landscapes, Normans "Sailing"(shame about Rod!) was fun and Peter's Newcastle then and now was also a nice trip down memory lane.

Well our recent outing at the South Tyne projected image competition was a bit of a let down (poor judging!), any way this panel show's our very worthy set of six Images.

South Tyne selection - projected images

Well last night the selection committee had the tough job to select our entry of six images for the forthcoming South Tyne Projected Image competition.

They had 80 images to select from, this was whittled down to a short list of 20 from which to select our six images. It was a difficult task but in the end they did manage to select some fine images which we hope will help us retain the trophy which we won last year.

we won't show the images  here just now but nearer the night hopefully you will see them here.

The South Tyne is this year hosted by South Shields Photographic Society, on Tuesday 25th November judged by Keith Smith LRPS.

What's New

Well the recent workshops went quite well David Chapman gives a much needed boost to beginners, Paul went through the basics of Flickr the photo-sharing community, whilst Jack went through the joys of Lightroom. This week we made our selection of images for the South Tyne projected image competition.

Gateshead Council happily accepted our recent grant application and we should have our cheque for £400 in the next few days - thanks to Paul for all his efforts in making a successful application.

Welcome  back to Richard, who first joined our club way back in the early 90s, he now lives just outside Madrid, Spain - but with the new digital technologies has already sent his entries for the forthcoming DPI competitions. Hope he wins as I'm top of the list to present him with a trophy or two!!

Saturday 20 September 2008

update and coming up.

Sorry for not keeping up with this for a week or so .....
I believe that Bryter Lyter went down quite well Paul showed a collection of new images all taken this year, and very interesting it was too.

The following week club member Mick Gibson gave us a fantastically precise presentation on how to mount your images to the highest standard, with a couple of very helpful hints and tips.

Which brings us to this coming Tuesday - "Box of Delights" by Tynemouth club member Arthur Smith, last year he brought along his prints, this time it's his 35mm slides (can you remember using those old slide films!) along with his unique sense of humor. I know I'm looking forward to seeing Arthur's images once again.  An evening not to be missed so come along.

Well to nights the night, we find out who has won the trophies.
Our judges for the season Colin Hall, Joe Duffy, Stan Bewick and Mavis Ord have made their judgments', we have all listened  to the informed comments, and here we find who has amassed the most points in each discipline : Colour prints, B&W prints and Projected images (DPI-digitally projected image, and for the last time 35mm slides) and discover the identity of our "Photographer of the Year" which is the photographer who has gained the most points in all the above areas.

This is a social event and very light hearted along with the main event the prize giving we will have quizzes host by our own mr quiz Dave, assisted by Paul. Also we will have a prize draw and a buffet.
